Volker Sommer will be speaking LIVE @UCLAnthropology and on ZOOM on Tues May 2, 6:30pm (BST)

He reflects on his experiences as a naturalist who spent decades in the forests of Asia and Africa exploring the ecology and behaviour of wild monkeys and apes. This journey took him from an upbringing in a rural community in post-war Germany to countries such as India, Thailand, USA, Nigeria and the UK. The talk reconstructs how religious and political convictions became entwined with theoretical discourses of evolutionary biology– and how our paradigms are tainted by personal biases.

Volker Sommer is Emeritus Professor of Evolutionary Anthropology at University College London.
